Signs of Hope

During this challenging time we are now living in, it can be easy to get lost in the darkness and miss the signs of hope that better days are ahead. So, the Camp Christian Committee thought we would help bring you one of those signs of hope with an update about our Green Chair Fundraiser.

And the update is….the first six chairs are now complete!

How FANTASTIC is that?!?!?!

It is exciting to think that in the coming months these chairs will be a part of a circle of chairs at Camp Christian where campers will sit in them as they share time with one another talking, laughing, sharing stories, telling jokes, and just being together during their time at camp.

And that, is a really great thing.

Yes, we still don’t know how things will unfold just yet with all that is going on in our world right now. But we know that eventually we will be back at camp. And when that time comes, we will be ready for every camper, counselor, assistant director, director, ministry associate, volunteer, and visitor because we have continued to press on doing the work that needs done because we have remained focused on the hope of better days ahead.

We are grateful for ALL who have purchased chairs and we are grateful to the hands that continue to work diligently to build the chairs. THANK YOU doesn’t seem like enough but it is a place to start. THANK YOU to ALL.

We hope this update about the Green Chair progress brings some hope to you that better days are ahead.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Php. 4:6-8

Important Camp Update

Camp Christian and the Coronavirus

We are all coming to terms with the rapidly changing circumstances surrounding the coronavirus. We are well aware of the numerous organizations and businesses that have closed their doors in recent days or have had to alter what they do in a significant way. We have learned that is not always possible to plan too many days in advance as situations continue to change. However, the Camp Christian Committee does have an eye on the future even if our knowledge of what the future holds may be limited.

Our Camp Christian Committee met online in recent days to discuss what this upcoming summer might look like as far as our outdoor ministries are concerned. We want you to know that steps have already been instituted as far as cleanliness and sanitization are concerned which are likely to remain in place even when the coronavirus is behind us. And the most important thing to hear is that no decisions have yet been made concerning our summer program.

As the days are unfolding, we are creating contingency plans to address some possible scenarios for the summer. So even though we are keenly aware that circumstances might change, we are planning for our summer program, counselors have been recruited, and ministry associates have been hired.

Here is a way that we need our churches to assist our planning: Continue to encourage the early registration deadline of May 1st. We have made the change that No payment is required at the time of Registration, rather the May 1st date is to secure your spot and will guarantee the Early Bird rate. This is necessary to help us prepare for the summer. As we move through these weeks and possibly months ahead, we will allow time to help us determine when payment will officially be due.

We are aware that this situation is constantly changing and evolving.  As more information and possible restrictions are made public, we will do what we can to meet as a committee and address the evolution of our response as quickly as possible.  Currently, we have our next committee meeting planned for April 22nd, but we also know that we may need to meet before then.  We will do everything we can to give ongoing updates and communication as the situation unfolds.  Thank you for your patience with us as we are also figuring out the most faithful way forward in this time.

These are unsettling times yet as Christians we are called to be “joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12. Let us be in prayer together for our shared ministries and the staff that helps us carry them out.

Green Chair Fundraiser!!!

The green Adirondack chairs at Camp Christian have become almost a tradition at Camp. The conversations and fellowship that happens around the circles of these chairs during the summer is regularly listed as a favorite amongst Campers.

Every summer the campers express a desire for more green chair circles.  With this in mind, the Camp Christian Committee has put together a fundraiser to include the whole region as we provide chairs for the campers while raising needed funds for camp.

Our plan is to make 45 chairs (20 to stay at camp, the other 25 going to peoples’ homes) and to raise $10,000.

The funds raised will go to Camp Operations (repairs, general maintenance, utilities, kitchen needs, and supporting staff members).

We are building and want to obtain sponsors for 20 chairs that would ultimately remain at camp.  We will also take orders for up to 25 more chairs that people can buy for their own use.  Sponsored chairs staying at camp would include a dedication plate on them with wording chosen by the sponsor.

ORDER ONLINE BY CLICKING HERE

Ordering will end when all the chairs are sponsored or sold, or the end of April.  Credit cards are accepted. Purchased chairs may be picked up at camp during the Camp Christian Market Day on May 2, or delivered to your church in late May, if you prefer.

Thank you for your help in publicizing this vital camp fundraiser.  The link here is a flyer you can print and post in your church. http://www.ccinoh.com/media/250170/camp_chairs___flyer.pdf
